Gratton Wilson


John Gratton Wilson was an Australian politician. Born in Melbourne, he was educated at Wesley College and the University of London before becoming a doctor and farmer near Warrnambool. In 1902, he was elected to the Victorian Legislative Assembly for the seat of Villiers and Heytesbury, but in 1903 he transferred to federal politics, winning the Australian House of Representatives seat of Corangamite as a member of the Free Trade Party. Defeated in 1910 by future Labor Prime Minister James Scullin, he entered the military in 1916 and served until 1919, after which he returned to his Warrnambool medical practice and farm. He died in 1948.
